City of Stoughton Public Records

The City of Stoughton is a unit of government organized and operating pursuant to the provisions of Wisconsin law. The City is governed by a mayor and a twelve person council.

The City Council has designated the City Clerk of the City of Stoughton, as legal custodian of the public records in the custody of the City.

The public may obtain information and access to records, make requests for records, or obtain copies of records in the custody of the City of Stoughton during the following times:

Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) 
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  **Call for an appointment during these hours**

Extensive research for records may require advance notice. No charge for research will be made unless actual costs exceed $50.00.

Charges for copies are $.12 per page (over twenty (20) pages). No charge for requests under twenty (20) pages.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the City may deny or withhold access to records as provided for by Wisconsin law.
